YOU AND YOUR DRYER
You use your dryer but do you think about what it looks like inside? Not inside where you put
the clothes to dry but where the workings are!
As clothes dry there are tiny pieces of cotton, nylon, wool etc separating from the clothes that are
drying. The lint trap catches some of these particles and some get caught in the ductwork and around
the outside vent. Its when this lint has been accumulating over a period of time that causes problems.
Some duct are routed up and vented through the roof with a small 5" x 7" vent cap; these are the ones
that need attention the most. There are the ones that is under the foundation and the vent pipe is below
ground level and when it rains the dryer doesn't work well. Then there ones that are vented into the attic
or crawl space. All are areas of concern to The Lint Buster. He is committed to the prevention of home
fires caused by dirty dryer, clogged dryer ducts and vents.
The consumer Products Safety Commission estomates there are 16000 clothes dryer fires in the United
States, amounting to $99* Million in estimated property damage annually. Lack of maintenance is the leading
cause of dryer fires and LINT is the leading material. These fires can be caused by failure of mechanical
and/or electrical parts within the dryer itself, improper materials being put into the dryer, and insufficient
airflow as a result of improper installation and lint clogged ducts.
The CAPC recommends changing our vinyll and foil venting hoses (transition hoses)! The AHAM
(American Household Appliance Manufactures) recommends using duct made of rigid aluminum or steel
duct hose. The old vinyl hose is not UL approved and is a fire hazard.
